HUTTON RUDBY VILLAGE EVENT
For the past several years, the Parish Council has proudly organised an annual Village Event on the Green, typically held in June.
The event offers a wide range of family-friendly entertainment, including inflatable rides for children (some operated in support of local charities), live performances from brass bands, Punch and Judy shows, a production by the Hutton Rudby Amateur Dramatic Society, a dog show, petting zoos, children’s races, and displays from the Hutton Rudby and District Local History Society — with plenty more besides.
We also welcome local charities and community groups to host stalls or demonstrations to showcase their work and invite local crafters to sell their handmade goods.
Admission is free, and we warmly encourage participation from individuals and groups across our community.

North Yorkshire Council’s Planning Committee for our area decided today (10th October) that it is “minded to approve” the application for 50 new homes between Paddocks End and Langbaurgh Road. The committee made its decision with 6 votes in favour and 1 abstention (by David Hugill our local North Yorkshire Councillor). The committee’s decision was in line with the planning officer’s recommendation.
It is a decision in principle which is subject to the completion of a “section 106” agreement to legally secure the delivery of the affordable housing and various other matters.
Rudby Parish Council was represented at the meeting by chairman, Allan Mortimer. The Parish Council argued a) there was a case for refusal on the grounds that the development is larger than is required to meet village needs, and b) that if the application was approved suitable conditions must be attached to ensure the promised community benefits are delivered and secured for the long term.

You may recall that the Neighbourhood Plan had been put on hold pending the determination of this application because of the significant impact it has on the village housing supply. Today’s decision creates the clarity needed to reactivate and complete the Neighbourhood Plan. The Parish Council will shortly be giving this some consideration.
